The mythology of One Piece is full of different races, such as mermaids, dwarfs, giants, among other strange creatures that inhabit the different seas described in the anime.
Like many shounen , One Piece shows the growth and maturity of the protagonist, as he faces super strong opponents in different story arcs. If you are a fan of this anime genre, One Piece should definitely be on your must-have list.

This is the plot of Code Geass , a sensational anime whose character design is done by CLAMP ( Sakura Card Captor and Chobits ).

Note: The series has a second season announced, with no scheduled date.
19. Yuu Yuu Hakusho
Yuu Yuu Hakusho is one of the classic anime from the 90’s that every fan needs to see! Literally, its translation is “The report of the playful ghost”.

As his death was not being expected by the rulers of the underworld, they decide to revive Urameshi to occupy the position of supernatural detective, while evaluating whether the boy deserves to go to paradise or hell. Thus, the young man goes on to investigate cases related to demons and ghosts that invade the world of the living.
18. Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter is another title that you cannot miss and a good suggestion for those who want to immerse themselves in the world of anime. This anime had two adaptations: the first released in 1999, and the second between 2011.
Here we are going to refer to the second version of the anime, considered the most complete, since it adapts all the plot arcs seen in the manga.
The universe created by Yoshihiro Togashi is very rich, with a unique magic system (through the use of Nen , which is basically the energy of the aura itself) and with a quite characteristic mythology.
Each arc of Hunter x Hunter is almost like an independent anime, with different themes and the inclusion of exclusive characters. Although the viewer continues to see the evolution of the trajectory of Gon Freecss, the protagonist, and his friends in search of discovering what it is to be a Hunter, the plot is not closed only to that and presents differentiated stories with their own autonomy.
The anime proposes a reflection on humanity, with interesting and controversial topics such as prejudice, inequality, poverty, family, among others.
17. Death Note
What would you do if you owned a notebook capable of killing all your enemies? This is the weapon that Light Yagami, a high school student, uses to “fight evil”. When the young man discovers the Death Note, he decides to write on it the names of all the criminals in the city, in order to achieve a more peaceful society.
However, Light’s plans end up being interrupted by L., a private detective who became one of the most iconic characters in the series, apart from Ryuk (the “god of death”), obviously.
16. Tenchi Muyo!
Episodes: 26 + 26 + 26 + 26
Tenchi Muyo! is an anime, manga and light novel series, created by Kajishima Masaki and Hiroshi Hayashi, about a young man named Tenchi Masaki, which was so successful that it became a franchise.
The series is divided into two seasons that have no connection to each other, as if each one takes place in a parallel universe: Tenchi! Universe (1st season) and Tenchi in Tokyo (2nd season).
However, in all the series, Tenchi Masaki and the space girls (Ryoko, Ayeka, Sasami, Mihoshi, Washu and Kiyone) are present to face the various enemies that appear, be they warriors from another galaxy or demon spirits!
Tenchi Muyo! is a series that appeals to different types of audiences, from shōjo to shounen.
15. One-Punch Man
Episodes: 12 + 12
This is another anime that (unexpectedly) was a big hit and can’t go unnoticed by seinen fans who enjoy good battle scenes.
One-Punch Man tells the story of Saitama, a young man who begins intense training with the goal of becoming the strongest superhero in the world… and succeeds!
Capable of defeating his enemies with just a single blow, this bald, rubber-gloved (and sexy, right?) yellow-uniformed hero has captivated audiences with a humor and attitude that sometimes borders on the ridiculous.
One-Punch Man is a fest of clichés of traditional shounen narratives, but it has already conquered the hearts of a legion of otakus . To understand the reason, you will have to watch the series and let yourself be “infected” by this fever!
In an alternate world, some individuals possess special powers that only develop when they reach puberty. This is the case of Otosaka Yuu, a young man who discovers that he is capable of “possessing” people’s minds… but only for 5 seconds.
This is what makes Charlotte different and what makes this anime a very interesting option for those looking for a story that stands out from the usual: the limitations of the characters’ powers.
For example, there is a girl capable of becoming invisible, but only to one person at a time, and another who manages to be possessed by spirits, but only by her sister’s… And so this team of people with “super “powers.
13. Death Parade
For those who want to run away from anime plagued with battles and blows, Death Parade is one of the most interesting novelties that is surprising fans.
Based on the Death Billiards short, the anime shows that when two people die at the same time they are sent to mysterious bars that are run by bartenders , spirits who act as judges of those places.
There, people must participate in a series of games that serve to try to decide their respective destinies: reincarnate on Earth or condemned to wander eternally in the void.
Death Parade is a very intense and dark psychological thriller . If you like this genre of anime, it’s already taking time to see it!
12. Attack on Titan
Episodes: 25 + 12 + 12 + 16
Without a doubt, this is one of the most acclaimed anime of recent times. Based on the shonen manga created by Hajime Isayama, Attack on Titan tells the story of a world devastated by the attack of giants that have devoured much of the Earth’s population.
A group of survivors live isolated inside a great wall, but not for long… When the peace of the place is threatened, Eren Jaeger, a young man with special abilities, gathers an army with the mission of destroying the terrifying creatures.
Attack on Titan is an unpredictable series, showing something at first that could easily change completely later on. That’s why we tell you that if this is your first stop in the world of anime, it will set the bar too high for what comes next.
Note: There is a second part of the fourth season scheduled for winter 2022.
Episodes: 13 + Feature Film
What would you do if you could change the past? Takamiya Naho has it very clear… This young student is the protagonist of Orange , a spectacular drama series aimed at shōjo and seinen audiences , and based on the manga by Ichigo Takano.
On the first day of school, Naho receives a letter sent by herself 10 years in the future. At first, she totally ignores its content, which she warns about some supposed events that would lead to a tragedy.
After realizing that the letter is real, Naho begins to follow all the directions written by herself in the future in an attempt to save her friend Kakeru Naruse from a horrible fate.
10. Sword Art Online
Episodes: 25 + 24
An anime for those who are fond of games! Sword Art Online tells the story of a group of friends who, in the distant future, use a piece of equipment called Nerve Gear to get into an MMORPG game.
But, something terrible happens and the youngsters get caught up in the game. To get out, they will have to face all the challenges and bosses in the game. Oh, and dying is not an option, otherwise the brains of the participants can be literally melted!
Note: The series has multiple spin-offs, including Sword Art Online Alicization and Sword Art Offline .
9. Kiseijū: Sei no Kakuritsu
Also known as Parasyte , this is another anime that is not for sensitive eyes. With grotesque images capable of disturbing the sleep of many, Kiseijū tells the story of a group of alien parasitic worms that have invaded Earth to control the bodies of human beings.
Izumi Shinichi, a 17-year-old student, was one of those victims… Well, sort of. A parasite tried to invade Shinichi’s brain, but it was completely unsuccessful and can only control the boy’s right hand.
With the help of Migi – name of the parasite that happens to live in the boy’s hand – Izumi transforms into a superhero who fights the other parasites.
Fleeing a little from shounen anime , Monster is one of the most acclaimed seinen among fans. Based on the manga of the same name by Naoki Urasawa, Monster is produced by Madhouse, which is already a good start.
The story follows neurosurgeon Kenzou Tenma, a successful doctor with a commendable reputation, but who sees his life turn upside down after a tragic episode.
This anime has been praised for being quite faithful to the manga it is based on, and both manage to maintain a suspenseful plot without losing the dramatic tone. And by the way, the series has one of the best villains ever!
The aspiring mangaka , Satoru Fujinuma is a young man with a rather peculiar power: he manages to travel through time whenever a tragedy occurs.
When his mother is brutally murdered, Fujinuma goes back 18 years in time to try to alter a series of events that led to the rise of the dangerous serial killer responsible for the crime.
The manga that inspired this anime is made up of 8 volumes. Netflix produced a highly successful live-action series that has won over fans due to its great fidelity and quality, as well as going deeper into the psychology of the characters than the anime itself.
If you are a fan of horror anime, Another cannot be missing from your list.
Based on the light novel by Yukito Ayatsuji (and which was later adapted into a manga), this anime has a great load of supernatural suspense that delights its fans.
The young Sakakibara is transferred to Yomiyama North School, ending up in a class that is far from normal.
Horrible deaths and constant fear haunt the students, who believe they are trapped in a curse that began 23 years ago, when one of the students died. Or at least that was what was thought.
5. Cowboy Bebop
Without a doubt, this is one of the cult anime among fans of the genre. Cowboy Bebop is different from most Japanese animations. With purely cinematographic scenes, an impressive color palette and a spectacular soundtrack, watching this anime is almost a must because of how good it is.
Cowboy Bebop tells the story of a group of bounty hunters in a future where humans have migrated to other planets in the Solar System. The human population has grown disproportionately, as have the criminals, and it falls to the members of the Bebop ship to chase down the evildoers. With this plot as a base, each episode explores mature and philosophical questions, such as loneliness and existentialism.
Cowboy Bebop has a lot of influence from American culture, mainly western and mob movies and 1940s jazz.
Episodes: 25 + 25 + 25
From the same creators of Death Note , Bakuman is the anime that every aspiring mangaka has always wanted to see. The anime’s story revolves around Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito, two young men who want to become the best mangaka in the world.
Ignoring the teen drama present in anime, Bakuman is a true lesson in how manga creation works. The stages of production, the relationship between the author and the editor, the difficulties of having the manga approved and how to keep it weekly among the best sellers… all of that is portrayed in this anime.
Bakuman also satires (and pays tribute to) various contemporary anime and manga, such as One Piece and Naruto.
Episodes: 22 + 11 + 8
With a touch reminiscent of Minority Report , Psycho-Pass is ideal for those who enjoy science-fiction stories, with a dense, complex plot and quite stylish characters.
Psycho-Pass shows a futuristic dystopian world, where all human beings are considered probable criminals, until proven otherwise. People are constantly analyzed and observed, being punished before they even think of committing any kind of crime.
The anime addresses very interesting questions about the human psyche and reflections on the meaning of good and evil. Another good suggestion for those who want to run away from senseless blows.
This is one of the most popular seinen series in the world. Recently, its creator, Kentaro Miura, passed away, and it is unknown if the manga’s story will ever come to an end.
Berserk revolves around a former mercenary and cursed swordsman named Guts who lives on a mission to hunt down the demonic Apostles. The series has many scenes of graphic violence and other elements that are not suitable for a child audience.
The fights in Berserk are epic, but that’s not what makes the series so wonderful, it’s the density of the plot and the quality of growth of each of its characters.
The series has different adaptations, but if we can give you some advice, it is preferable to skip the most recent ones, especially the one made in 2016-2017, since its quality leaves much to be desired. To see a good adaptation of Berserk , we invite you to take a look at the first one, which was made in 1997, but if you want to enjoy the story and the drawing in all its splendor, it is preferable that you read the manga.
Episodes: 24 + 13
